A Labor of Love!

Aimen Faraj of Singer Island straightens the chairs at Singer Island Municipal Park on Tuesday morning. "We're coming up on season, so I don't mind working," Faraj said.

"The money’s really not there, but it’s my love for the art and the beach is why I'm here,” continued Faraj, who has been a beach attendant for eight years.

Singer Island resident Aimen Faraj is a renown environmental artist who has made it his mission to educate the public, especially school children, about our earth and its oceans and how manmade pollution is endangering one of our most important natural resources and food supplies.

All of his materials used to create his unique and impressive art works are objects that man has carelessly littered in the ocean that have artistic value and have washed ashore. Aimen has collected and found all kinds of discarded materials such as water heaters, refrigerators, bathtubs and small items such as lighters, pens and children's toys just to name a few!

His collection of sea glass makes unique artworks and other small unique seashells collected add color and dimension to his displays.

"My mission is to educate people on environmental etiquette through my art to help deepen our connection with nature," said Faraj.
